About the film

MPAA-Rating: NC17

Plot Synopsis:
This film is an adaptation of an award-winning play by Martin Sherman of the same name. Clive Owen plays Max, a gay playboy in World War II Berlin who is arrested by the Gestapo and incarcerated in a concentration camp as part of Hitler's policy against homosexuals. Forced to wear a pink triangle, gay men were brutally abused and degraded by camp guards. On his way to imprisonment, Max is able to substitute his pink triangle for a yellow one and thus escapes identification as a homosexual. Once in prison, he meets and falls in love with an openly gay prisoner named Horst. Their love affair amidst the horror and atrocities of Nazi-era Germany forms the basis of this powerful and compelling drama. Mick Jagger makes a brief, noteworthy appearance as "Greta", a drag queen chanteuse. This International Critics Award-winning film is one of the few films to depict the lives of gay men in World War II Germany.
