100% Woman takes a look at the controversy surrounding Canadian downhill mountain bike champion Michelle Dumaresq. Now in her thirties, Michelle lived the first 20 years of her life as Michael and has completed the process of transitioning into a woman. She is legally recognized as a woman and the Canadian sports organizations support her participation in the women's division of the sport, but Michelle still faces resistance from her fellow competitors. She faces arguments that question what "advantages" she may have from being born with a male body as well as her legitimacy as a woman. Through footage of her races and interviews with her peers and family, the documentary follows Michelle's struggle for acceptance and questions the true nature of gender.
