Minnesota teens Scancy, Jesse and Christine prepare to leave their homes for Gay Bible Camp. The future-campers each discuss their reasons for going and their current lives as gay Christians in small towns.
The group gets acquainted at Bethany Lutheran Church before making the drive to the great outdoors where Pastor Brad announces their sleeping arrangements. Fifteen-year old Tim confesses he lost all of his friends when he stopped doing drugs.
On the first night by the campfire, the campers each write down something in the life that upsets them. Scancy then discusses her extreme-Christian childhood, and the kids and their counselors raise the rainbow flag together.
The campers use pictures to express their views of God and the church, and Tim discusses his fanatical devotion to religion during his drug treatment. Later, Christine and Jesse confess their first celebrity crushes and Jesse opens up about his fear of being around other males.
Teens will be teens... so it's time for Truth or Dare! But Thomas rubs a few of his peers the wrong way by refusing to play; Christine is getting tired of everyone giggling over resident-hottie, Jesse.
After a camp-fire sing-along, Pastor Jay shares with his campers his struggle with the Lutheran church to become ordained. Thomas shows potential to become a pastor himself, and Tim has some late-night fun with his night-vision cam.
Thomas addresses being made to feel prude-ish and performs some expressive dance moves; Tim finally musters the courage to talk to Jesse.
After a nail-painting party, the group starts the Coffee House Talent Show, complete with singing, poetry and a dance number. Counselor Ross then leads a ceremony to help the kids let go of burdens in their lives.
Scancy breaks down after the rock ceremony, and Christine reveals her dread toward returning to her small town. The kids each share their long-term goals when it comes to relationships and children.
As the campers say goodbye, Thomas finds his true calling in helping the others to pray.
