A close look at two gay bars in rural Mississippi and their struggle to survive in unfriendly and often hostile territory. Through interviews with their patrons and an exploratory look at local hate crimes and the history of other nearby gay bars, the documentary reaffirms that there is still much progress to be made in the fight for acceptance. The gratefulness and sense of family the bar patrons maintain reveal how the Southern LGBT community can still thrive despite social prejudices.
