Filmmaker Q & A
Q: What inspired you to make your film? Was there any specific reason you chose to make your film? How did you come up with the idea for your film?
Jeremy: I am fascinated by the concept of BEARS in terms of the less manicured masculine form within the gay community and the idea that this "branded gay" lifestyle is becoming an increasingly commoditized group worldwide. My film is a cross pollination of ideas, graphics and bearded dream worlds montaged together using animation skills Ive been picking up since traversing sideways from graphic design into motion graphics four years ago.

Q: What do you hope to convey through your film?
Jeremy: To communicate a gentle, humorous, simple story with heart about furry bears finding each other in a modern world.

Q: Who are your favorite filmmakers/what are a few of your favorite films and why?
Jeremy: I’m fond of these film makers for their distinctive voice, visual style and ability to forget/disregard/reinvent film conventions.
Mathieu Kassovitz - La Haine. A beautifully shot punch-in-the-face kind of film, gang life in Paris made in ‘95, with a stunning soundtrack. Takes you along for a rocky ride.
John Waters - A Dirty Shame. Need I say more, seminal genius. And bears get a look in!
Mike Leigh - Abigails Party. A lesser-known of this film maker’s body of work, dark humor, a portrait of middle-class English life in the ‘70s.
Michel Gondry - More for his music videos - especially hyperballad/Bjork, though his features have some moments of delight also – i.e. The Science of Sleep.
