Filmmaker Q & A
Q: How did you come up with the idea for your film?
Wegener: I wanted to make an offbeat film about the detrimental effects of resisting change, specifically with respect to relationships. I am also terrified by rat tails. Just an issue that I am struggling with.

Q: What do you hope to convey through your film?
Wegener: Change is difficult, but inevitable. Better to embrace it then be miserable. In short, rat tails are cool until they aren't.

Q: Who are your favorite filmmakers/what are a few of your favorite films and why?
Wegener: I really loved Yasujiro Ozu's silent film I Was Born, But. It allows you to witness the strangeness of adulthood, class, and social politics through the eyes of two hilarious young boys. They simultaneously try to emulate and rebel against their father.
Stylistically, I like Spike Lee, Noah Baumbach, and Julie Taymor.
I am also fascinated with good stories set seaside: Sex and Lucia, Il Postino, Whale Rider, Before Night Falls.

Q: Anything else you'd like to provide on your film?
Wegener: Just to acknowledge Melissa Downing and Rachel Garza, the producers that held auditions after a mere 30 minutes of sleep the day after our fundraiser. I think they wore sunglasses through the auditions. I am certain that we looked haggard, possibly scaring away the first actress. My memory is blurry now. The film is distributed by Wolfe Video and Bildkraft.
