Q: What inspired you to make your film?
David: I am always drawn to stories about family relationships. In my family, we are all trained not to express our feelings in any forms. We enjoy bottling up everything until something pops. This story is based on my imagination of what would have happened in my family if something actually popped.
Q: Who are your favorite filmmakers/what are a few of your favorite films and why?
David: I have very many favorites. But my number one favorite director is Wong Kai Wai. He is the inspiration for me going into filmmaking in the first place. He has such a unique point of view that is both highly stylized and intimate at the same time. My number two favorite is Krzysztof Kieslowski. Bleu has to be one of my favorite films of all time. I love the level of detail he sees in human emotions, and he can capture everything into his films.
