Ogunquit

With settlements dating back to 1641, Ogunquit (meaning "coastal lagoon" in Abenaki Indian) boasts a unique blend of old-world-character and hospitality with modern cuisine and attitudes. It's not unusual to be greeted by a stranger on the street with a warm smile and "Hi, how are you today?" This may, at first, prove a little jarring to its urban vacationers, but soon enough, though, one is relaxed by all of this small beach community's charms. For the LGBT vacationer, Ogunquit proves a refreshingly mixed experience. You can't stroll for more than a few minutes in the town center without seeing a rainbow flag, yet this friendly escape somehow manages to be a very mixed vacation spot where sexual orientation is a non-issue.

If you're walking you'll love that Ogunquit has no stop lights. If you're driving you'll wonder why there's always a traffic jam before and after beach hours. However, there are short cuts around the traffic so be sure and read...
